They Are Financially Stable

Troubled Times Behind

Centre were founded in London in 1969 but fell on hard times not long after. It was in 1977 that they were renamed Centre Insurance after a merger that saved the business, but in 2009, the company was finally at the end of their rope and they filed for bankruptcy.

That’s when Zurich came along and absorbed the company, including all of their debts. Today, Centre is no longer a name in the insurance field, but they are still an entity, selling products for Zurich with the Zurich name, though still being called “Centre” on certain documents.

The website makes no real mention of Centre, so it would appear that the company’s identity has effectively been absorbed by the much stronger Zurich.

While this may perhaps be too bad for any Centre CEOs who enjoyed the feeling of power and importance that comes with being in charge of an insurance company, the fact remains that this is ultimately better for the company and better for the customer.
